Earth Day , celebrated annually on April 22 , is a reminder to protect the environment, restore damaged ecosystems and live a more sustainable life. The event was first celebrated in 1970, making this year the 52nd anniversary of annual celebrations. Earth Day was first observed in the United States, when some 20 million people took to the streets to protest against the 1969 Santa Barbara oil spill. Since then, the occasion has played an important role in raising awareness on other environmental issues. This year, earthday.org has selected the theme, ‘ Invest In Our Planet ’. It explains, “This is the moment to change it all — the business climate, the political climate, and how we take action on climate. Now is the time for the unstoppable courage to preserve and protect our health, our families, our livelihoods… together, we must ‘Invest In Our Planet’.” Today, Google's annual Earth Day Doodle addresses one of the most pressing topics of our time: climate change .

Did you know? A snail can sleep up to three years. Snails need moisture to survive; so if the weather is not cooperating, they can actually sleep up to three years. It has been reported that depending on geography, snails can shift into hibernation (which occurs in the winter), or estivation (also known as 'summer sleep'), helping to escape warm climates. May this Holi be filled with fun, joy and love.  Happy Holi 2022! Holi, the festival of colours is finally here and people are rejoicing with the arrival of this festival. This year,  Holi will be celebrated on March 18. Holi is a very popular festival in India and is celebrated in all states of the country.  People throw coloured powder on each other and throw coloured water on each other via ‘pichkaris’ or buckets. The whole affair is very enjoyable and warm, as people dance to the tunes of breezy songs, play with colours and also drink thandai! Holi signifies the triumph of good over evil. People also distribute sweets and gifts to their loved ones on this precious occasion.  People dress up in white to celebrate Holi and play with colours. Many families also arrange a puja at their home to pray for prosperity, wealth, good health and luck.
