Chipko movement

 


The Chipko movement or chipko andolan, was a forest conservation movement in India. It began in 1973 in Uttarakhand, then a part of Uttar Pradesh and went on to become a rallying point for many future environmental movements all over the world. It created a precedent for starting nonviolent protest in India.

Approx. 75 percent of all Rolls-Royce motorcars ever built are still on the road today

  ROLLS-ROYCE In 1906, Rolls-Royce introduced its first car, the Silver Ghost. After a record-breaking 24,000 kilometer non-stop endurance run, it earned the reputation as the best car in the world. Just over 7,000 Silver Ghosts were built. Approximately 75 percent of all Rolls-Royce motorcars ever built are still on the road today. Rolls-Royce was acquired by the British Conglomerate Vickers in 1980 and then purchased by BMW in 1998. BMW built a new, dedicated Rolls-Royce factory in Goodwood, England. The plant itself was designed to be energy efficient, eco-friendly and benefit manufacturing at the same time. The Phantom was introduced in 2003 as the first incarnation of the new generation of Rolls-Royce motorcars. It comes in 44,000 colours. Earth Day 2022 #InvestInOurPlanet

Earth Day , celebrated annually on April 22 , is a reminder to protect the environment, restore damaged ecosystems and live a more sustainable life. The event was first celebrated in 1970, making this year the 52nd anniversary of annual celebrations. Earth Day was first observed in the United States, when some 20 million people took to the streets to protest against the 1969 Santa Barbara oil spill. Since then, the occasion has played an important role in raising awareness on other environmental issues. This year, earthday.org has selected the theme, ‘ Invest In Our Planet ’. It explains, “This is the moment to change it all — the business climate, the political climate, and how we take action on climate. Now is the time for the unstoppable courage to preserve and protect our health, our families, our livelihoods… together, we must ‘Invest In Our Planet’.” Today, Google's annual Earth Day Doodle addresses one of the most pressing topics of our time: climate change .
